Welcome Message
Monroe County is a special place, which has been recognized statewide for its natural beauty, its innovative approaches to issues, and its elected officials who understand those needs and challenges, including these that I have worked on:
- Improving job opportunities and economic development, including the creation of the Indiana Life Sciences Training Center in collaboration with IVY Tech-Bloomington;
- Providing available and affordable health care, by partnering with the public and other agencies in supporting and establishing the new Volunteers in Medicine Clinic;
- Finding better ways to provide public safety services, such as our new lifeline to social services “2-1-1 Infolink,” which is now up and working.
- Examining Reverse 9-1-1 as a service, which would provide an early alert of a tornado or other emergencies directly to home, business or cell phones.
I promise to continue my support of and involvement with our strong commitment to the environment in our community. Issues of sustainability are going to be critical as we prepare for challenges in our ability to deliver essential, effective, and efficient services.
Our quality of life, which brings people from all over the world to our community,
must be nurtured and protected.
As a long-time local resident, I am committed to Monroe County. I have the energy and experience to serve Monroe County as we move forward into the next decade.
Every election is important. Today’s issues are vital to our future. Unwise decisions made today will be more difficult, if not impossible, to correct tomorrow. I believe that my experience and background have prepared me for these challenges.
Over the years, in addition to my current position as a County Commissioner, I’ve served on or chaired boards making decisions regarding economic development, children and families, community needs, planning and zoning, pollution prevention, solid waste management, and cable franchise agreements. I believe I have been an active, involved, visible, and responsive county commissioner -- one who is involved with everything that concerns Monroe County.
